Take a look at Annie’s gorgeous Old Violet colour and tell me what comes to mind. Did somebody say “eighteenth-century Europe?!
Like violets from the Italian city of Parma, or a field of French lavender, Old Violet is a Chalk Paint® colour inspired by the rich purples you find in antique French interiors, and in ancient Rome, too. A soft, sophisticated pastel, Old Violet worked beautifully on this vintage armoire we just finished working on.
Old Violet and Graphite … Our Colours of the Month
I love working with Annie Sloan’s Old Violet. It’s not too pale or too purply, and delivers a beautiful finish either straight out of the tin, or when mixed with other Chalk Paint® colours like Graphite or Old White for a lighter or darker effect. I used Old Violet to refinish this cute vintage armoire, which I picked up at our local thrift store. To create the washed look on the armoire, I applied two coats of Old Violet, and completed the process by applying white wax directly to the painted surface to create a washed look.
Chalk Paint® … And Fabric, Too
But the paint’s just the beginning. Did you know that Annie Sloan makes some fabulous fabrics, too? Nothing takes an old chair or ottoman from “drab” to “fab” quite like a re-upholstery project. And re-covering a favorite piece is easier than you’d think. Take a look how beautifully these two wingback chairs came out, re-covered with Annie’s graphite ticking, which complements Old Violet very nicely.
Old Violet goes with …
Accent Chalk Paint colors that complement Old Violet include Emperor’s Silk, Versailles, Cream and Coco. Seriously, the possibilities are endless!
